TorqVault Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Welcome to TorqVault. This Privacy Policy explains how TorqVault ("the App," "we," "us," or "our"), developed by Skyler Granger, handles information when you use our iOS or Android application. TorqVault is a vehicle build documentation app designed for custom car and truck builders, classic car restorers, and DIY garage enthusiasts.

By using TorqVault, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.

2. Information We Collect

TorqVault does not require user accounts, registration, or login. We do not collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, or location. The App processes the following data exclusively on your device or within your private cloud storage:

3. How We Use Your Data

All data you create within TorqVault is used solely to provide and improve the App's functionality:

• Photos and camera access allow you to visually document your vehicle builds and modifications. Photos are stored locally on your device and, if enabled, synced to your private cloud storage (iCloud on iOS, Google Drive on Android). Photos are never uploaded to any third-party server.
• Speech recognition provides hands-free note-taking while working in the garage. On iOS, this uses Apple's on-device Speech framework. On Android, this uses the device's built-in speech recognizer. Audio is processed on your device and is never recorded, stored, or transmitted.
• Push notifications are used exclusively for local reminders you create, such as maintenance schedules and project tasks. No notification data is shared with third parties.
• Cloud sync is optional. On iOS, iCloud/CloudKit keeps your project data in sync across your Apple devices via your private CloudKit container. On Android, Google Drive sync backs up your build photos to your personal Google Drive account. In both cases, only you can access your data. The developer has no ability to read, access, or retrieve your cloud data.
• QR code scanning uses your camera to read QR codes for storage box inventory tracking. No images or scan data are transmitted off your device.

4. Data Storage & Security

TorqVault follows a local-first architecture. All data is stored on your device using native data persistence frameworks. There are no external servers, databases, or cloud services operated by the developer.

• On-device storage: Your project data, photos, and preferences are stored locally on your device.
• Cloud sync (optional): On iOS, data can be synced via iCloud/CloudKit, encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. On Android, photos can be backed up to your personal Google Drive account, encrypted in transit via HTTPS. For details, refer to Apple's Privacy Policy or Google's Privacy Policy.
• No server-side storage: We do not operate any servers or backend infrastructure. We have zero access to your data.
• Device security: We recommend enabling a passcode, biometric authentication (Face ID, Touch ID, or fingerprint), or screen lock on your device to protect your data.

5. Third-Party Services

TorqVault integrates the following external services:

Apple Services (iOS)

• Apple CloudKit / iCloud: For optional data sync across your Apple devices.
• Apple Push Notification service (APNs): For delivering local reminders.
• Apple StoreKit: For processing in-app subscription purchases (Pro tier). Payment information is handled entirely by Apple and is never accessible to us.

These services are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy and Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.

Google Services (Android)

• Google Drive API: For optional photo backup to your personal Google Drive account. You must explicitly sign in with your Google account and grant permission. Only files created by TorqVault are accessible to the App.
• Google Play Billing: For processing in-app subscription purchases (Pro tier). Payment information is handled entirely by Google and is never accessible to us.
• Google Sign-In: Used solely to authenticate your Google account for Drive sync. We access only your email address and Drive file scope. We do not store your Google credentials.

These services are governed by Google's Privacy Policy and Google Play Terms of Service.

Google AdMob (Free Tier Only — Both Platforms)

TorqVault displays banner advertisements to users on the free tier via Google AdMob. Pro subscribers do not see any advertisements.

Google AdMob may collect the following data to serve and measure ads:

• Device identifiers (Advertising ID on Android; IDFA on iOS, if you grant permission via the App Tracking Transparency prompt)
• IP address (used for approximate location and fraud prevention)
• Device information (model, OS version, screen size)
• Ad interaction data (impressions, taps)

6. Data Sharing & Disclosure

We may only disclose information if required to:

• Comply with applicable law, regulation, or legal process.
• Protect the rights, property, or safety of our users or the public as required or permitted by law.

Because we do not collect or store your data on our servers, we have no data to produce in response to most legal requests.

7. Children's Privacy

TorqVault is not directed at children under the age of 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since the App does not collect personal data or require account creation, there is minimal risk of inadvertent collection. If you believe a child has somehow provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

8. Your Rights

General Rights

Because TorqVault stores data locally on your device and in your private cloud storage, you have direct control over your data at all times. You can:

• Access all your data directly within the App.
• Delete any or all of your data from within the App at any time.
• Export your photos and project data using the App's export and sharing features.
• Revoke permissions for camera, microphone, or notifications via your device's Settings at any time.
• Disable cloud sync in the App's settings or in your device's cloud preferences.
• Uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data from your device.

For European Users (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. Because all data is stored locally on your device or in your private cloud account, you can exercise these rights directly without needing to contact us. We do not process your personal data on any server we control.

Legal basis for processing: To the extent any processing occurs, it is based on your consent (granting device permissions) and the necessity to perform the contract (providing the App's functionality).

For California Residents (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of personal information. TorqVault:

• Does not sell your personal information.
• Does not share your personal information with third parties for their marketing purposes.
• Does not collect personal information beyond what is described in this policy.

You may exercise your rights at any time by managing your data directly in the App or by contacting us at the email address provided below.

9. Data Retention

Your data is retained on your device and in your cloud storage for as long as you choose to keep it. We have no server-side data retention because we do not operate servers.

• Deleting data in the App removes it from local storage and, if cloud sync is enabled, from your cloud storage.
• Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data. Cloud data (iCloud or Google Drive) may persist until you delete it from your cloud account.
• Subscription records are managed by Apple (iOS) or Google (Android) and subject to their respective data retention policies.

10. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

TorqVault offers a freemium model with an optional Pro subscription (monthly or annual). All purchases are processed through the platform's native billing system (Apple App Store on iOS, Google Play on Android). We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. Your purchase history and billing details are managed entirely by the platform under their respective privacy policies and terms of service. Pro subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App, legal requirements, or our practices. When we make material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users through the App. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.

Continued use of TorqVault after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
